Most of us have a strong desire to effect change in the world. We have strong ideals, and we’re learning to use our voices to share them. We feel full of passion, and yet sometimes… it’s not exactly flow. We can get stuck by our privilege and diversity stories.
These challenges pop up often as we’re trying to ride the energy of passion. A lot of the difficult conversations required for change also require new and improved language. It’s not unusual to find yourself at a bit of a loss. After all, we’re learning a lot of new things – about ourselves and about others – that we haven’t fully processed but don’t want to ignore.
Together we’re going to come out with a shared language of what it means to create a just and inclusive world. So how do we navigate through this trailblazing time, have an impact on the causes we care about, include voices from many different arenas, and not be stunted by shame around either our priviledge or our diversity?
Let’s start by sharing our stories.
Emerging Women was launched in order to support the integration of business and feminine power to make a positive impact on the world. As a world traveller and Peace Corps volunteer, Chantal Pierrat witnessed first-hand the severe oppression and disempowerment of women that is present in most third-world countries across the globe. And as a sales and marketing executive in medical technology and manufacturing, she experienced the challenges and difficulties modern women face in the first-world business arena. Though the environments were quite different, the effects on women were similar: work more, get rewarded less, and feel insecure as we try to fit into a world created by and for men.
After 11 years as a publishing executive in the area of personal growth, holistic living and spirituality, Chantal combined her passion for women’s leadership, inner transformation, and making the world a better place by launching Emerging Women with the first-annual event in October 2013. Since then, speakers such as Arianna Huffington, Dr. Brené Brown, Dr. Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Dr. Tererai Trent, Kristin Neff, PhD, Esther Perel, Kelly McGonigal, PhD, Zainab Salbi, Reshma Saujani, Anne Lamott, and others women from businesses in all industries have come together to discuss the issues facing women entrepreneurs and leaders today.
Facilitated by Emerging Women’s founder, Chantal Pierrat, a Circle Up is a live virtual event that explores a new leadership and feminine power theme each month. After Chantal sets the context for the topic, participants will be placed into small groups for sharing and feedback using the unique Emerging Women Power Circle process. Participants are guided to share deeply and support their circle sisters in stepping fully and courageously into living their truth.
